Weather Update for Jammu and Kashmir – February 19, 2024
Srinagar – Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected over the plains of Kashmir, including Srinagar, for the next 24 hours. There is a possibility of snowfall over the plains later tonight and early tomorrow morning. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are also likely during this period.
Higher Reaches – Heavy to very heavy snowfall is likely to continue over the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, above 3000 feet, for the next 24 hours. An active Western Disturbance is causing this heavy precipitation.
Jammu – Plains of Jammu are expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours. Thunderstorms and lightning are likely in some parts.

The public is advised to take precautions while traveling to higher reaches during the snowfall. Drive slow and remain indoors if possible. Check for updates from the Meteorological Department.
