CBSE Rolls Out Digital Marksheets for CTET Exam
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) successfully conducted the 18th edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) on Sunday, January 21, 2024 across 3418 exam centers spread over 135 cities across India.
The CTET exam is one of the largest teacher eligibility tests conducted in the country and tests the eligibility of candidates who wish to become teachers for classes 1 to 8. This year, around 26.9 lakh candidates had registered for the CTET exam, out of which nearly 84% or around 22.6 lakh candidates appeared for the exam.
The exam was conducted in two papers – Paper 1 was for candidates who wish to teach classes 1 to 5 and Paper 2 was for those interested in teaching classes 6 to 8. Candidates had the option to appear for either one or both the papers based on their interest and eligibility. The exam tested candidates on child development, pedagogy, language abilities among other things. 20 languages were available for candidates to choose from for the language part of the exam.

Elaborate arrangements were made by CBSE for the smooth conduct of the CTET exam across all centers. A control room was set up to monitor the examinations real-time. 137 city coordinators, 3418 center superintendents, 4021 observers and 662 CBSE officials/staff were deployed to oversee the examination process across all centers.
CTET results will be released by CBSE in due course of time. Meanwhile, for the first time, CBSE will be providing digital marksheets and eligibility certificates to all candidates through Digilocker. This is in line with CBSE’s efforts to go paperless and green. Digilocker accounts will be created for all appeared candidates and the login credentials will be sent to the candidates on their registered mobile number. The digitally signed e-documents will be legally valid as per the Information Technology Act.

Many candidates appearing for CTET plan to become teachers in government schools and desire to work in the education sector at the grassroots level.
